    3. From the drop-down menu, select Merge.

        Note:
      • To avoid invalid table cases, the following cell merging rules have been set:
        • For variable rows, a cell should not have a row span >1 because it involves a dynamic set of rows that follow the same format. Having a cell with a row span means the cells for all the dynamic rows have overlapping incorrect cells.
        • For a fixed row that is the last row in the table or the last row before a variable row, it is also not feasible to have cells with a row span >1 because it involves a structure change for a variable row which cannot happen for a fixed set of rows (row span-1)
        • For fixed rows, the cells must have a row span greater than the number of rows preceding a variable row. For example: You can have a cell with a row span of 3 on row 2 if rows 2, 3 and 4 are fixed.

    4. To undo the merge operation, click the lower right corner of the merged range and select Unmerge.

      Note:
    • To select a single cell, click the respective cell.
    • To select multiple cells, click a cell and hold the Shift key on your keyboard. While holding the Shift key, click another cell in the table. All the cells included in its range are selected.

  16. After inserting the customized table in the file, you can make small adjustments to the table margins until the table is the size that you want.
