Adding and Exiting a Repeating Group

In a repeating environment where your PDF workflow does not change often, you can set up a repeating structure rule and disable it once you no longer need it. A logical repeating group is used when a set of rules must be executed multiple times based on a dynamic list of items rather than a fixed number of iterations. Instead of repeating the same logic manually, a logical repeating group evaluates a collection and automatically applies the rule sequence to each element in that collection.

The Repeating Group defines a logical rule that allows repeating processing of contained rules as long as the position of the cursor is not altered. The cursor not being modified is the only exit criteria from the repeating group unless the Exit Repeating Group rule is used in the logic of the rules contained in the Repeating Group.

You can exit the Repeating Group if the position of the cursor is not modified or if you use the Exit Repeating Group option.

  1. To create a Repeating Group go to the RULES view on the left side of the screen.
  2. Create the rules that apply to your use case and click Insert ⇒ Repeating Group.
The rule will repeat for all the elements that are displayed under the Repeating Group listed in the RULES section on the left side of the screen as long as you do not change the position of your cursor.
  3. To use ExitRepeatingGroup, select a Repeating Group child rule, right-click and choose Add Exit Repeating Group from the menu.
  4. The Exit Repeating Group selection applies to the closest parent Repeating Group.
