Creating a font mapping project

Create a new project to start defining font mappings for your AFP files.

A project stores your AFP files, font mappings, and configuration settings. You can save and reopen projects to continue working on font mappings.

To create a project:

  1. Select File ⇒ New.
The New font mapping project dialog opens.
  2. In the Project name field, type a name for the project.
  3. In the Project destination field, specify the folder where you want to save the project file.
Click the browse button to select a folder.
  4. Select whether to use Embedded fonts or Mapped fonts.
    Embedded fonts
Fonts are processed and embedded in the resulting PDF files. By using this option, the output PDF files will look more like the input AFP files.
    Mapped fonts
Fonts are mapped by default. This option ensures smaller output PDF files size. However, the AFP files that contain fonts that do not have a font mapping will not be displayed correctly.
  5. Optional: Configure font and resource paths.

Select a path type from the list on the left:

    Resource path
    Path to AFP resource files
    Type 1 font path
Folder path to Adobe Type 1 font files (.pfb)
    TrueType font path
Path to TrueType and OpenType font files (.ttf, .otf, .ttc)

    1. Select the path type you want to configure.
    2. In the Select path field, specify the folder path or click the browse button to select a folder.
    3. Click + Add to add another path.
    4. Repeat for each path type you want to configure.
  6. Click OK.
The project is created. The project name appears in the title bar.

The project is ready. You can now add AFP files and configure font mappings.

To reopen a saved project, click Open and select the project file.
