RICOH Accessibility Designer Overview
RICOH Accessibility Designer lets you mark PDF content, by structuring document elements in a logical reading order, to ensure that a PDF is accessible to all assistive technology (AT) users. The tagged PDF content is saved into a project, exported as a control file.

With the help of RICOH Accessibility Designer, experienced users can generate an XML control file that records content for further reuse on multiple statement documents. To create an accessible PDF document, the PDF/UA Tool requires both a control file and a PDF document.
- Note:
- To convert Advanced Function Presentation (AFP) documents to PDF files make sure to use the AFP2PDF Plus transform.
The Assistive Technology (AT) software interprets the PDF/UA document to those who depend on universally accessible information.
- Important:
- Make sure you use a PDF/UA conforming software to verify that your PDF document meets the requirements of the PDF/UA technical specifications of accessibility prior to start your project.
RICOH Accessibility Designer allows you to perform various functions:
- Helps you create standardized tagging, with the help of the PDF/UA tool.
- Create or reorder the reading order of the document content.
- Work with multiple PDF samples for the same statement format.
- Add macro definition files to the project to reuse the same content structure within the control file.
- Create and export a single control file to be used across multiple PDF documents.
- Validate your work prior to exporting the control file.
