User interface

The AFP2PDF Plus Config UI window contains file and font panels, mapping options, and a preview area.

Files panel

Lists the AFP files loaded in the current project.

Click a file name to select it. The Document AFP Fonts panel updates to show the fonts from the selected file, and the preview panel displays the document.

Document AFP fonts panel

Lists the fonts found in the selected AFP file. Fonts are organized into two categories, based on how they are referenced in the AFP file either as coded fonts or as a character set and code page pair. For the coded fonts case we have the coded fonts panel:

Coded fonts
Fonts referenced by coded font names (based on the IBM naming convention, they start with the letter X). These fonts require you to specify the character set and code page they represent.

For the character set and code page pair we have two panels.

Character sets
Fonts specified as character set. The character set page is already defined in the AFP file.
Code pages
Fonts specified as code page. The character code page is already defined in the AFP file.

If the AFP file or the resource folder contains the font resource, each font entry shows this information:

  • Font name
  • Current mapped font (for example, "Verdana")
  • Font size in pixels
  • Font style (Regular, Bold, Italic)
    • Note:
    • If the font resource is missing, the information specified is not displayed.

Mapping options panel

Displays configuration options for the selected font. Use these options to configure the fonts you want to use in the output PDF file.

The panel header shows the selected font name, current mapping, and font category.

Preview panel

Displays a preview of the AFP document with font mappings applied. Text using the currently selected font is highlighted.

The preview toolbar provides the following controls:

Zoom in / Zoom out
Increases or decreases the zoom level.
Zoom percentage
Shows the current zoom level. Type a value or select from the list.
Fit width / Fit page
Adjusts zoom to fit the page width or the entire page in the preview area.
Previous page / Next page
Navigates between pages in the document.
Page number
Shows the current page number and total page count. Type a page number to navigate directly.
Preview
Enables or disables the preview of changes.

Help button

The help button (?) in the title bar opens the online help system.
