Managing Rules
This section explains how to create rules that when processed by the PDF/UA tool will
mark PDF content such as document, text, list, objects, table or structure elements.
In this section:
- Creating Rules
- Positioning Rules Graphic in the Workspace AreaYou can position a rule graphic by manually selecting the rule area on the page or by entering coordinates in the X, Y, Width, and Height fields on the properties area.
- Moving Rules in Document HierarchyYou can reposition document element rules in the PDF structure hierarchy.
- Built-in Macro RulesThis topic describes the built-in macro rules. The built-in macro rules are designed to run without requiring any direct user input.
- Editing Properties
- Copying, Cutting, and Pasting RulesYou can copy, cut, and paste document element rules in the RULES and MACROS view.
- Deleting RulesYou can delete rules from the workspace area.
- Adding BreakpointsRICOH Accessibility Designer allows you to customize the breakpoints for your rules so that the validation is temporarily stopped at that specific point. The breakpoints are used in the debugging process to identify the elements that are not matched correctly.
- Filtering Rules
- Configuring Advanced Filtering Criteria
- Adding Log EntriesYou can set up a log entry to generate enhanced debugging information for your project.
- Adding and Exiting a Repeating GroupIn a repeating environment where your PDF workflow does not change often, you can set up a repeating structure rule and disable it once you no longer need it. A logical repeating group is used when a set of rules must be executed multiple times based on a dynamic list of items rather than a fixed number of iterations. Instead of repeating the same logic manually, a logical repeating group evaluates a collection and automatically applies the rule sequence to each element in that collection.
- Automatic Rule CreationRICOH Accessibility Designer includes a feature that automatically generates rules from the content of the currently open PDF, reducing the amount of manual rule creation.
