Debugging PDF Elements

The sequential validation option lets you debug the elements in a document at rule execution level. You can either debug the entire document or insert breakpoints for the rules so that the validation is temporarily stopped at that specific point. The breakpoints are used in the debugging process to identify the elements that are not matched correctly.
To run a sequential validation and debug the document:
  1. Right-click an element where you want to insert a breakpoint and select Debugging ⇒ Add breakpoint
When an element has an active breakpoint, it is matched with , a red circle icon.
  2. To disable a breakpoint, right-click an element that contains an active breakpoint and select Debugging ⇒ Disable breakpoint.
When an element has a disabled breakpoint, it is matched with , a gray circle icon.
  3. Click , the Debug Preview icon to start debugging the matched elements.

The validation stops at the first element matched with a breakpoint and the review panel is displayed.

  4. In the review panel, go to DEBUGGING to see information about the matched element.
  5. To execute all the rules until the next breakpoint, click , the Next/ Run icon.
If execution is finished for a page, the process continues on the next page.
  6. To execute all the rules until the next child rule or subsequent rule, click , Step Into icon.
If execution is finished for a page, the process continues on the next page.
Example: When a breakpoint is set on a table, the Step Into option executes until first row, then it goes to the first cell, and then the second cell, if there is no child in first cell.
  7. To execute all the rules until the next subsequent rule, click , the Step Over icon.
If execution is finished for a page, the process continues on the next page.
Example: When a breakpoint is set on a row, clicking Step Over executes until next row, then it goes to the next row, and so on.
  8. To stop the debugging process, click , the Terminate icon.
