Selecting Modified Base14 fonts
Map an AFP font to a Modified Base14 font with different character metrics.
Modified Base14 fonts are based on the standard Base14 fonts but have different character metrics. By changing the metrics of the Adobe Base 14 fonts, you can create additional fonts without embedding. The result is a smaller size PDF. Some of these fonts are: AvantGarde, Bookman, and Helvetica-Narrow.
- Go to Target font type and select Modified Base14 fonts from the list. The font selection options appear.
- Go to Target font and select the target font from the list:
- AvantGarde-Book
- Bookman-Light
- Helvetica-Narrow
- NewCenturySchlbk
- Palatino-Roman
- Helvetica-Condensed
- Note:
- There is no separate option to specify weight of the font or if the font is italic. Instead, some of the fonts from the Modified Base 14 category have suffixes that specify these options, such as Bold, Demi (half bold), Italic, Oblique (similar to Italic), Light (thinner than the regular font).
