Updating the IBM DB2 database

Keep your system secure and compatible by updating to the latest supported IBM DB2 version. This ensures you have the newest features, performance improvements, and security fixes.
    Important:
  • Take a snapshot or backup of the RICOH ProcessDirector system to avoid data loss.
  • Verify that antivirus or other security software that locks and scans files is still disabled on the RICOH ProcessDirector system.
To install the update package:
  1. Log in to the primary computer as the user who installed RICOH ProcessDirector.
  2. Stop the RICOH ProcessDirector, Feature Manager, and DB2 services.
  3. Copy the ZIP file that you downloaded from the RICOH Software website to a temporary location. For example, you can use the C:\aiw\aiw1\tmp directory.
  4. To generate the MD5 checksum of the file, open a command prompt and enter:
    certUtil -hashfile C:\aiw\aiw1\tmp\file_name.zip MD5
where file_name.zip is the name of the package.

Compare the result with the value provided on the RICOH Software website. If the values do not match, download the package again.

  5. Unpack the ZIP file.
  6. Go to the db subdirectory in the extracted directory.
  7. Double-click the setup.exe file to start the installation process.
  8. Go to Install a Product from the DB2 Setup Launchpad installation wizard and click Work with Existing to launch the DB2 setup wizard.

You can see the DB2 version that is installed with RICOH ProcessDirector in the list. To verify that the list displays the current version of DB2 installed with RICOH ProcessDirector, verify the installation path.

  9. Click Launch DB2 Setup wizard.
  10. Click Yes if you get a prompt to shut down the currently running processes.
  11. Click Next to continue the installation.
  12. Click Next after the installation completes.
  13. Click Finish to close the installation wizard.
  14. To verify the version of DB2 that was installed, open the DB2 command window and type: db2level
  15. To verify that the installation did not deactivate the DB2 license, type:
    db2licm -l
The output should be similar to this example:
    C:\Program Files\Ricoh\ProcessDirector\db\BIN> db2licm -l
Product name: "DB2 Enterprise Server Edition"
    License type: "CPU Option"
    Expiry date: "Permanent"
    Product identifier: "db2ese"
    …
    Enforcement policy: "Soft Stop"
  16. Start the RICOH ProcessDirector service.
